November 5 – 7: We made our way back to where we first picked up the motor home in Mulheim, Germany. We can’t believe that this leg of our journey is coming to a close. Stopping in Frankfurt for a night, we got to catch up with old friends – the Dodd Family – who we haven’t seen since they left Bermuda about 8 years ago! Getting to visit friends and family has been one of our favourite parts of this whole trip.
November 3 – 4: We stayed at a campsite just outside of Villach, Austria. The rain and thunder kept us inside the camper for the first night, but we got lucky the second day and were able to venture out. We wandered along some hiking trails in the forest nearby before making our way into the town centre. People were already starting to get ready for the upcoming Christmas markets.
October 28th – November 2: We’ve spent about 5 days exploring some areas of Slovenia. We had a fantastic experience in the wine region of Pesnica, learned a lot about Ljubljana Castle, and have gotten a little homesick (for Bermuda and San Diego) while visiting seaside towns along the Adriatic.
October 24th – 27th: Budapest, Hungary – We’ve just left Budapest and are headed to Slovenia! Here are a few things we did while we were there…

October 23rd: Olomouc, Czech Republic – After finding a great campsite outside of Olomouc, our only option for exploring the city was to drive the entire motor home into it. Luckily, we found reasonable parking in a good location. We got to spend time at an interactive science centre, wander around parks and cobblestone squares, and learn about the impact of the Iron Curtain on this country formerly known as Czechoslovakia.

October 21st: Wroclaw, Poland – We spent an afternoon exploring this very interesting city, and the kids became obsessed with Dwarf spotting!
Music – “Good Time” by Owl City & Carly Rae Jepson (2012)
October 18-19: Spent a few days in Dresden…
Dresden is a beautiful city which had to be rebuilt following a massive bombing by the Allies in 1945. The city really seems to have accelerated its building post reunification of Germany.

October 1st – 7th: Essen, Germany
On Tuesday, October 1, we flew from Reykjavik to Frankfurt and then hopped on the train up to Essen, a city in the Ruhr valley, just outside of Dortmund. We are staying with friends from Bermuda – Richard and Jen Moore and their kids Ethan (5) and Millie (2) – who, after 5 years in Bermuda, moved to Germany in 2018. We’ll be here until Monday, when we are picking up a motorhome for 32 days of self-drive adventures through central Europe!
