Budapest was not on our itinerary originally, but after reading an article about it as we were traveling, we decided to check it out. We’re all very glad that we got a chance to explore a little bit of this beautiful and interesting city – or more accurately – cities. We know that we only scratched the surface, but we loved it here!
Day 1 – Great Market, Gellért Hill and Night River Cruise
Great Market
We love markets! We wandered around the stalls and then headed upstairs for lunch. It was a tight squeeze getting through some of the crowds, but we found space at the Panorama Cafe.
Gellért Hill
A playground midway up the hill helped to break up the hike, and there were statues and monuments at various places on the way down. The views of Buda and Pest were definitely worth the climb!
Night River Cruise
Cruising on the river and seeing the buildings all lit up was a special treat. The audio guides were a hit with Maggie and CJ, and they learned about the history behind the bridges and structures around Buda and Pest.
